“I’ll keep watch out here.”

A gentle reminder to look far away.

Every 20 minutes, Barnaby invites you to look at something about 20 feet away for 20 seconds: the 20-20-20 habit. He never scolds, and he never takes over your screen unless you ask him to.

Free for Windows 10 and 11. No account. Pro is a one-time $2.99.

How it works

Three small steps, a few times an hour.

Looking far away for a moment is a simple screen habit. Blinky keeps it light, so it fits into your day instead of interrupting it.

1

Work as usual

Blinky counts quietly in the tray. It pauses while you’re away and waits while you’re in a game, a video or a presentation.

2

Barnaby throws a paper plane

When it’s time, he peeks over the top of your screen and sends a plane off into the distance. Take the rest, snooze or skip.

3

Look far away for 20 seconds

Find a window, a wall across the room, the sky. Barnaby counts the seconds with you, then goes back to keeping watch.

Between rests, Barnaby keeps watch from his window in Blinky, counting down to the next one.
Free, and staying free

Everything you need for the habit.

A reminder that stays small

A short visit at the top edge of your screen, then a compact bubble. Your work stays in view.

Your rhythm

Rest every 15, 20, 25 or 30 minutes, for 15 to 60 seconds. Snooze when you need a few more minutes.

Waits for fullscreen

Holds a rest during games, films and presentations, and reminds you when you’re done.

Pauses while you’re away

Step away from the keyboard and the countdown waits for you.

Quiet hours

No reminders during the hours you choose, overnight included. Or pause for a while whenever you like.

Starts with Windows

If you like, Blinky opens quietly in the tray when your computer starts.

Full-screen breaks, if you want them

Opt in to a full-screen rest that shows the world outside. Escape always lets you out.

Rest Rhythm

A calm look at your completed rests, focus time and recent activity. No scores, no streaks.

Dark or light

Dark by default, with a light theme for sunny desks.

Blinky Pro

A little more, for people who use it every day.

One payment, yours for good. Everything that’s free stays free; Pro only adds.

Schedules

Reminders only on the days and between the hours you choose, like weekdays from 9 to 6.

Wait during calls

Holds a rest while you’re on Zoom, Teams, Meet or another call. Blinky only notices that a call app is using your mic or camera; it never listens.

Your week, and your history in Excel

Completed rests for each day of the week, with last week as a plain fact. Export your whole history for Excel or as CSV.

Your key arrives by email right after you buy. Paste it into Blinky under Settings → Blinky Pro. Not happy? Full refund within 14 days, no questions.

Private by design

Your rests stay on your computer.

Blinky has no account and no tracking. Your settings and history are saved only on your PC.

  • No sign-up, no email needed to use it.
  • No analytics, ads or tracking in the app.
  • Wait during calls only checks whether a call app is using the mic or camera. Nothing is recorded or sent.
  • Blinky goes online only to check for updates and, with Pro, to check your license key. Read the privacy policy.
Questions

Good to know

What is the 20-20-20 habit?

Every 20 minutes, look at something about 20 feet (6 metres) away for 20 seconds. It’s a simple way to give yourself regular breaks from close-up screen work. Blinky reminds you; it isn’t a medical product and doesn’t treat anything. If your eyes bother you, talk to an eye care professional.

Is Blinky really free?

Yes. The reminders, fullscreen and away detection, quiet hours, full-screen breaks and Rest Rhythm are free, with no time limit and no ads. Pro is an optional one-time purchase that adds seasons, the plane collection, schedules, waiting during calls and Your week.

Which computers does it run on?

Windows 10 and 11. There’s no Mac or Linux version yet.

Windows says it protected my PC. Is Blinky safe?

Windows SmartScreen can show this for new apps it hasn’t seen often. Choose “More info”, then “Run anyway”. Blinky only installs for your own user account and never asks for administrator access.

How do I unlock Pro?

Buy Pro, and your license key arrives by email. In Blinky, open Settings → Blinky Pro, paste the key and press Activate. It’s checked online once, then works offline. One key works on up to 3 of your computers; removing it from one frees a spot.

I got a new computer. Do I need to buy again?

No. Remove the key in Settings on the old computer to free its spot, then activate it on the new one. If the old computer is gone, email us and we’ll free it for you.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, within 14 days of buying, no questions asked. Email us with your order number or key; see the terms.

How does Blinky update?

Blinky checks for a new version quietly. When one is ready, Settings shows “Update now”; it installs in a moment and keeps your settings, history and license. It never updates in the middle of a rest.

Ready when you are.

Free for Windows. Barnaby will keep watch.
